The iPad 2 ships to stores on Friday and we will be launching them 5pm. This means my about 90% of my life, excluding sleeping, will be working. It’s cool, and exciting, but being sick right now makes it a little daunting.
I will not be buying the new ipad, but only because I already own the first gen, and I love the little guy like he was my first Pokemon from Prof Oak.
For all of you wondering what’s so different, let me give you a rundown in normal people terms.
It’s thinner, white and black, cameras, hd facetime, nicer display, DUAL CORE PROCESSOR! and better graphics card!!! Meaning everything will be faster. 9 times to be exact.
The biggest new iPad innovation is the HDMI out cable. It’s going to mirror, which basically means everything you see on your ipad is seen on the tv/monitor.
WHY THIS IS COOL: Of course it makes viewing videos and stuff cool, but think of it in more of a “ipad is a gaming system” type of way. The ipad becomes a clunky wierd tablet controller/all in one video game system. I can see myself using this for the newer rpg, adventure, and multiplayer online games. Fuck angry birds.
ALSO LOOK AT THESE CASES!!! Don’t even try to say anything. It’s awesome.
P.S. I google imaged ipad 2, and amazing enough, no pictures of the actual ipad 2 came up. Only those stupid fake rumor pictures. ridiculous.
At 6pm today the music playlist at the Apple store I worked in switched entirely to The Beatles. It was an awesome shift, and I look forward to the work to come. :)
Chalk is a new webapp built specifically for the iPad from 37 Signals. It’s meant to be a small, collaborative chalkboard:
My favorite thing about the 37signals office are the 4 team rooms. Team rooms are where people can work together uninterrupted without disturbing anyone else. These team rooms are equipped with big chalkboards. You can sketch something quickly, erase it, and draw in more detail. Sketching on a chalkboard isn’t just a solo effort either. It’s collaborative. Anyone can add to your sketch to enhance your idea.
But wait, that’s not the best part:
One of the coolest things about Chalk is it’s a website. There’s no app store approval process we had to endure. We used technologies we’re already familiar with. To use Chalk just go to chalk.37signals.com on your iPad.
You can save out your drawings to the built in Photo app. It is a mightily impressive web based app and proof of the sorts of things that are possible in the iOS browser. Fantastic work and a lot of fun to use.
This is really cool! Since I started working I’ve found a bunch of cool new things about the ipad. I’ve been mobilemeing the hell out of mine. :)
This Friday I am Officially an Apple Employee.
It took 4 months, and 5 interviews, but I got it.
I start October 16th, until then I live of this $30.
THIS IS ALL I WANT! I’ll toss aside my old iPod video once I can wear this on my wrist.

I haven’t worn a wrist watch since I got my Blackberry back in middle school the (life of a young entrepreneur,) but as soon as a watch strap comes out, I’m running to the Apple Store.
Apple Interview Part Three
It was pretty cool having this part of my apple gauntlet on the same day as the Apple Fall Event. We basically just talked about the new ipods and apple tv announced today (available in a week)
It was less of an interview and more of a “I want a new iPod nano really bad so I can wear it like a watch.

Only one more interview left, and he said that they will tell me if I have the job at it. So my Apple destiny will be decided a week from today.
APPLE INTERVIEW GAUNTLET PART II
Today I had what I thought was my store interview for the Apple Store. I was wrong. It was a lot of fun, me and the store team leader really had a good time. Then at the end of the interview he told me he would be putting in his picks from his interviews so that another manager could set up his round of interviews. I was a little confused. I mean I went to a hotel for a recruitment seminar/group interview, then I went for a one on one store interview, now I need another?
Then what after that? I ask.
ANOTHER INTERVIEW! with another store representative. So that chalks up to 4 separate interviews for one retail Apple Specialist position. FOUR!
